Freelance SIA Trainer

Security 212 is looking for competent and reliable freelance trainers to support the delivery of SIA licence-linked security qualifications. As a Freelance SIA Trainer, you will deliver structured and engaging training to learners preparing to work within the UK private security industry. You will be expected to maintain professional delivery standards and ensure that all training is completed in accordance with the relevant qualification specification, awarding organisation requirements and current SIA requirements. Your responsibilities will include: Delivering SIA licence-linked training, including Door Supervisor, Security Officer and Refresher programmes, according to your competence and qualifications. Delivering classroom-based theoretical and practical training. Delivering conflict management training where appropriately qualified. Delivering physical intervention training where appropriately qualified and currently certificated. Following approved schemes of work, lesson plans and qualification specifications. Ensuring required minimum contact and training hours are completed. Supporting learners with different abilities and learning needs while maintaining required assessment standards. Conducting or supporting assessments where appropriately qualified. Maintaining accurate attendance, assessment and learner records. Completing course documentation promptly and accurately. Verifying learner identity and supporting required enrolment and eligibility checks. Ensuring practical training is conducted safely and appropriate risk-control procedures are followed. Maintaining appropriate classroom management and professional conduct. Working cooperatively with administrators, assessors, IQAs and centre management. Participating in internal quality assurance, standardisation and monitoring activities where required. Maintaining current occupational competence within the private security industry. Maintaining appropriate annual CPD records. Keeping knowledge of SIA requirements, qualification specifications and industry practice up to date. Reporting any safeguarding, malpractice, assessment or health and safety concerns through the appropriate procedures. Representing Security 212 professionally when dealing with learners, clients, venues and awarding organisation representatives. Freelance trainers may be offered assignments according to their location, qualifications, occupational competence and course availability. As this is a freelance position, work is offered according to operational requirements and individual availability.

Applicants should normally meet the following requirements: Recognised teaching qualification such as Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET), PTLLS or an accepted equivalent. At least 2 years of relevant front-line operational security experience within the previous 5 years for areas such as Door Supervision and Security Guarding. This reflects current SIA requirements for trainers. Strong knowledge of the UK private security industry. Ability to demonstrate current occupational competence. Good spoken and written English. Strong presentation, classroom management and communication skills. Professional and reliable approach to training delivery. Ability to maintain accurate learner and assessment records. Willingness to undertake standardisation, quality assurance and trainer monitoring. Ability to provide evidence of qualifications, experience and CPD. Trainers, assessors and IQAs must maintain at least 40 hours of relevant CPD each year under current SIA requirements. Completion of current ACT Awareness and ACT Security training where required; the SIA states these should be completed annually as part of CPD. Depending on the subjects being delivered, additional qualifications may be required: Conflict Management: A recognised Level 3 or above qualification in the delivery of conflict management training. Physical Intervention: A recognised Level 3 qualification for delivering physical intervention training within the private security industry, together with a current annual certificate from an approved Level 3 programme provider confirming competence to deliver the relevant approved programme. Assessment: An appropriate assessor qualification may be required where the trainer will formally assess learners. A current SIA licence relevant to the area being taught may be desirable, although applicants should note that the SIA is currently consulting on whether trainers delivering licence-linked training should be required to hold the relevant SIA licence; this is a proposal rather than a current universal requirement.
